LAMBERTON — Red Rock Central rallied in the final seven minutes from an eight-point deficit to within two points in the final seconds but a Jeff DeCock shot at the end missed its mark as the Southwest Star Concept Quasars held on to edge the Falcons, 57-55, in a Red Rock Conference collision Friday night.
COTTONWOOD — There wasn’t much stopping Chris Halbur.
A senior on Murray County Central’s football team, Halbur scored three touchdowns and amassed 200 yards — on a mere six carries — leading the Rebels to a 43-0 victory against Lakeview Thursday night.
The game was called at halftime due to lightning.
WINDOM — Four players scored in double figures and all 66 points were from the starting five as Windom earned a 66-55 non-conference victory against Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin in Saturday’s boys’ basketball game.
MOUNTAIN LAKE — Cierra Nickel surpassed a career milestone Thursday night, as she collected 19 set assists to help guide the Red Rock Central Falcons to a three-game victory over the Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Wolverines in a Red Rock Conference volleyball match.
MARSHALL — At the turn, the Red Rock Central Falcons were in the lead over Lakeview and Minneota, and with nine holes to play, it was any team’s tournament.
“We had the lead at the turn and thought we had a good chance to in it,” RRC head coach Steve Wegman said. “But the lowest scores from Lakeview and Minneota were too much to overcome.”
MINNEOTA — The Fulda Raiders (205) and Adrian Dragons (212) captured second and third place, respectively, at Tuesday’s Minneota Viking Girls Invitational Golf Tournament.
The Raiders and Dragons were edged by host Minneota, which won the event with a team score of 184.
Lakeview placed fourth with 215 strokes, while Lincoln/HI (217) was fifth, Westbrook-Walnut Grove (220) sixth, Wabasso (226) seventh, MACCRAY (238) eighth and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (242) ninth.
BREWSTER — After being defeated in all 10 of its softball games in April, Southwestern United has played well and won two straight games to open May.
Building a 7-1 lead after five innings, the Wildcats (1-5, 2-10) claimed a 7-5 non-conference win over Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain Monday.
