WORTHINGTON — Crews will begin demolition of the old railroad bridge over Minnesota 60 in Worthington today, with plans formalizing to open up the new four-lane highway from Bigelow to Worthington’s beltline, near Worthington Power and Equipment by the end of this month.
Phase 1, 2 to open later this year
WORTHINGTON — There won’t be an official celebration of the Minnesota 60 four-lane expansion project until the entire stretch of highway from Bigelow to Interstate 90 is completed. Nevertheless, those who have been driving the detour route for the better part of two years might be joyously tapping on their steering wheel with a smile on their face when the first and second phases of the project open later this year.
MANKATO — The third and final phase of the Minnesota 60 expansion in Worthington is set to begin July 9. Work on Minnesota 60 from north of Nobles County 35 to Interstate 90 will result in lane restrictions this year, but no detour until 2013.

MANKATO — The Minnesota Department of Transportation selected the preferred alignments for finishing the four-lane expansion on Minnesota 60 from Windom to St. James, according to Peter Harff, project manager.

WORTHINGTON — If all goes as planned, meaning construction season weather cooperates and the state can avoid another summertime government shutdown, work on the four-lane Minnesota 60 expansion project around Worthington should be completed by late 2013, with smaller landscaping projects on the docket for 2014.
