OOWD to increase levy; identifies projects
WORTHINGTON — With nearly a dozen potential projects identified to help protect Worthington’s water resources, the Okabena-Ocheda Watershed District voted unanimously to increase its annual levy Tuesday.
WORTHINGTON — With $300,000 available from the county’s Clean Water Partnership fund and the potential to access more money from the city’s sale of the hospital in Worthington, managers of the Okabena-Ocheda Watershed District went to work Tuesday to identify projects to benefit water quality in Lake Okabena.
DES MOINES, Iowa — Between $743,000 and $1.2 million in grant funds are available to local watershed improvement committees, soil and water conservation districts, public water supply utilities, county conservation boards, cities and counties in Iowa to support projects that will improve water quality or help prevent flooding.
WORTHINGTON — Standing along a berm just a mile or so north of Worthington, one can hear the tall grasses blowing in the breeze, water flowing over a dam, a pair of geese squawking about their new guests and, in the distance, a pheasant rooster cackling as he forages for food.
Joint powers’ request for legacy funds advances to Worthington City Council
WORTHINGTON — Members of the Okabena-Ocheda-Bella Clean Water Partnership joint powers board voted Tuesday to request $2 million in legacy funds be dedicated to Lake Okabena and clean water projects in the Okabena-Ocheda Watershed District. The legacy funds are from the city’s 2008 sale of Worthington Regional Hospital, of which more than $10 million has yet to be earmarked for specific projects.
WORTHINGTON — Nobles County Commissioners on Tuesday approved a development agreement with Energy Services Group of Wayzata to implement approximately $1.5 million in energy-saving projects in county buildings.
