As a blizzard howled its way toward the flood-stricken Red River Valley Monday, officials were warned of yet another threat on the horizon: a second crest in two weeks that could send the Red River back to 40 feet.

A flood fight that was supposed to be 95 percent buttoned up in Fargo-Moorhead on Wednesday morning morphed into a 100 percent battle by 1 p.m., as the forecast for the Red River crest was bumped up another foot to 41 feet.
FARGO – A significant turnout by volunteers cranked out 450,000 sand-bags in the past 24 hours, boosting confidence of city, county and state officials that the city will hold back the Red River’s rising floodwaters.
