WORTHINGTON — Voters approved referendums Tuesday in all three southwest Minnesota school districts that sought funding, though one district — Red Rock Central — passed its referendum by a more narrow margin than the others.
WESTBROOK — Utilizing a combination of strong inside play, some timely 3-point shooting and increased defensive intensity, Edgerton overcame an eight-point halftime deficit Thursday night and claimed a 59-44 victory over Red Rock Central in an opening round game of the Section 3A South high school boys’ basketball tournament.
LUVERNE — A 12-2 surge in a near three-minute span gave third-seeded Southwest Christian a 12-point lead with 4:13 left to play Tuesday night, and the Eagles survived a furious late-game comeback from second-seeded Red Rock Central to claim a thrilling 69-66 victory over the Falcons in the semifinals of the Section 3A South girls’ basketball tournament.
WORTHINGTON — Keyed by a 9-0 run coming out of the halftime break Saturday afternoon, the second-seeded Red Rock Central Falcons exploded for 49 second-half points to erase a five-point deficit and claim a 68-51 victory over the seventh-seeded Southwest Star Concept Quasars in the quarterfinals of the Section 3A South girls’ basketball tournament.
