FERGUS FALLS – As the temperature lingered at 10 below Friday morning, Shirley Straush took off her heavy-duty gloves to snap photos of four buses ferrying the Fergus Falls High School Marching Band out of town.
WORTHINGTON — The band that played at a recent dance for senior citizens in Worthington included two keyboards, a pocket trumpet, electric ukulele and violin.
But there weren’t five — or even four — musicians present. Those instruments were all played by one woman, Shirley Brandt of Ashton, Iowa. Shirley performs at area dances and other locales as Shirley’s Big Band Sound.
