PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Dragons capture first win of season

ADRIAN — It wasn’t pretty, but Adrian’s girls’ basketball team was able to pull out a win Saturday, knocking off Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 59-39 at home. The Dragons shot 38 percent and had 16 turnovers, but took control of the glass, outrebounding R-T-R 42-17 and holding R-T-R to 27 percent shooting to notch the team’s first win of the season.

Wildcats, Panthers remain alive in Section 3A playoffs

Daily Globe MILROY — With 12 runs in the third inning, the Wabasso Rabbits defeated Southwestern United 19-1 in five innings in a Section 3A baseball game Saturday. Kirk McBreen suffered the loss for SWU, allowing 13 runs while striking out three. Christopher Eichten allowed no earned runs in three innings while striking out seven to earn the victory. McBreen had a hit and scored a run for the Wildcats, while Tyler Timko and James Anderson each had a hit. Garet Rogers led the Wildcats with two hits in the game. Wabasso had five doubles and a home run, as Eichten had a pair of hits and drove in five runs. Barrett Herrig suffered the loss, allowing eight earned runs while walking six and striking out four in three and two thirds innings. Brandon Fast had the lone hit for ML/B-O, while Jared Bargen’s ground out scored Kyle Schroeder for the only Wolverine run. Taylor Hagberg had a pair of singles, while Anthony Dolan had a two-RBI single in the third. Isaac Dolan had a hit and walked twice, and scored three runs for the Panthers.
