RUSHMORE — The days of Extension educators leading Project groups for local women may be a thing of the past, but for a group of ladies in Wilmont, Reading, Rushmore and Worthington, getting together once a month for Project is a tradition they don’t plan to give up anytime soon.

WILMONT — When a couple of “For Sale” signs go up in the windows of Main Street businesses in a town the size of Wilmont, it’s enough to cause concern throughout the community — especially when the two businesses are the bar and the café, local gathering places for noon meals and draft beers.

WORTHINGTON — A new memorial on the Minnesota Capitol’s south grounds in St. Paul pays tribute to 207 of the state’s firefighters who have died in the line of duty since 1881. Among the names etched on the 100 steel pipes forming the 6,000-square-foot Minnesota Fallen Firefighters Memorial is former Wilmont firefighter Marvin Huisman.
WILMONT — Riding the momentum of a high-scoring Region 13C playoff victory over Pipestone to clinch a berth in this weekend’s state amateur baseball tournament, the tradition-rich Wilmont Cardinals will play the Loretto Larks this evening (8 p.m.) at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud.

WILMONT — On a near-perfect mid-summer day at Butts Probst Field, traditional amateur baseball rivals Jackson and Wilmont squared off in Game 3 of the semifinal round of the First Nite and Gopher League playoff series Sunday afternoon.
JACKSON — The Jackson Bulls and the Wilmont Cardinals finished up the ninth inning of Game 1, which was postponed from Wednesday, of the Region 13C playoffs Friday night with Jackson pulling out a 5-0 victory.
