WORTHINGTON — Making key plays when it needed to in the game’s closing minutes, Riverland Community College escaped with a hard-fought, 74-69, victory over Minnesota West Wednesday evening in a Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) Southern Division women’s basketball contest.
The victory improves the Austin-based school’s overall record to a sparkling mark of 19-4, while keeping the Blue Devils securely in second place in the division with a 7-2 record.
WORTHINGTON — Riding a two-game winning streak and hosting a team it had already defeated this season, the Minnesota West women’s basketball team wasn’t about to overlook Minneapolis.

Hitting clutch shots and defending when they needed to, the Lady Jays defeated Ridgewater 77-75 in double overtime Wednesday night.
FERGUS FALLS — The Lady Jays had a chance.
Trailing by three points in the final three minutes of Wednesday night’s college women’s basketball game, Minnesota West had an opportunity.
However, Fergus Falls was able to seal the 64-58 victory at the free throw line.
WORTHINGTON — For the first 23 minutes of Wednesday’s women’s Southern Division college basketball game, Minnesota West stuck with the No. 1 team in the NJCAA.
However, using a 21-6 run early in the second half, the Rochester Yellowjackets opened up a 20-point lead and never looked back in a 73-55 victory.
MINNEAPOLIS — Playing its second consecutive divisional game on the road, the Minnesota West women’s basketball team recovered from Wednesday’s loss with a 79-42 victory against Minneapolis Saturday afternoon.
Minnesota West built an early 30-14 lead before the Mavericks made a slight run before halftime. However, the Lady Jays had a 33-21 lead at the break.
