Letter: Coverage of youths' activities appreciated
Early Risers Kiwanis of Worthington wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Daily Globe and the community for their support of our Kiwanis projects. Without you, our needs could not be met. During the year various news articles appeared in the Daily Globe where the K-Kids and VOKK had completed a project they worked on so diligently. The projects included students from Prairie Elementary (K-Kids) and Middle School (VOKK).
Kiwanis' mission statement is "a global organization of volunteers, of every age, who are dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time." K-Kids and VOKK, with the help of teachers and Kiwanians, offer opportunities to learn leadership skills and support various needs throughout the community. With the Daily Globe covering these stories, it helps to give aid and support to our students and help them feel a pride of accomplishment. Leadership is important if a child is to succeed in this world. We acknowledge and thank the Daily Globe for its participation and helping us achieve our goals.
Seeing the pictures of the children in the newspaper this year wearing their K-Kids shirts; pictures of the Veteran's Day program; a picture of Patients Drive; picture of the Food Pantry Drive and the picture of the VOKK club with the quilts they made add value to the efforts our students provide in helping our community.
If there are any community-minded individuals who enjoy working with children and enjoy learning about their neighborhood, they should get involved by joining us at BenLee's each Thursday morning at 6:45 a.m. This club has got to be one of the most energetic groups I have ever belonged to. Come learn about your community, sing some songs and listen to a few jokes. You won't regret it.
