Letter: Government should stay out of the cafeteria
Hearing all the uproar about Michelle Obama's influence in the federal school lunch program, and how it is upsetting both children and parents with the new guideliness of 700 calories, I can't help but thinking this is a perfect example of government meddling in our lives.
My grandson (a staunch Democrat) admits his third-grade son comes home from school starving. Eliminating such staples as bread (two slices a week), and then having no desserts (unless you pay extra for a cookie), no butter, salt or cheese, or vegetables -- this means they go hungry and stuff themselves at home. Is this really good?
Wouldn't Michelle be better off to improve her family life by influencing her husband to stop smoking?
