WORTHINGTON — Lao Temple Siri Buddharam is constructing an add-on to its reunion hall that includes a bathroom, showers and kitchen area.

With roughly 400 members in the tri-state area and still growing, the temple needs more room and more options for visitors, said Bounlorm Soumetho, chairman of the temple’s advisory committee.  The kitchen and bathroom are primarily needed to accommodate visitors that travel to the temple for large celebrations.

Soumetho hopes to have the add-on complete by May 15 — ahead of the temple’s grand celebration in June — and host a grand opening shortly after.

“People from all backgrounds come to the temple, a lot of times for big celebrations,” Soumetho said. “The public needs it, the community needs it.”

The temple has invested more than $60,000 on the addition and needs nearly $44,000 for supplies to get the kitchen and bathroom up to code. Soumetho is asking the community for any donations it can give. Those interested can contact the temple at 376-5126.
