WORTHINGTON — Nancy Johnson’s first-graders at St. Mary’s School were asked: How do you prepare a turkey for Thanksgiving?
Below are their answers.

I’ll get the turkey from Hy-Vee. I’ll put seasoning on it and stick it with a needle thing that has apple juice in it. Then I cook it for an hour. I’ll check it with one of those things you stick in it. It has a clock on it.
I get the turkey from the store. Put it in the oven for 10 or 11 minutes. It’s done when it beeps. Then take it out. Eat it.
First I get a turkey from shopping. Put powder on it then mix it. Put chicken in it. I’ll cook it in the garage. I’ll know it’s done because it has time on it.
I would get my turkey from a store and I’ll bring it home. When I get home, I take the stuff out of it. I bake it in the oven. I check it to see if it’s done with a toothpick. When it’s done, I cool it down for a little bit. Then get all the stuff ready to eat. Then get all the food ready and then we eat.
I get my turkey from a farm and take it home. I would cook it and eat it.

I get the turkey from my house and get it out of the tin foil. I grease the pan. I set the turkey for a minute on the pan in an oven that is four degrees I say. I know it’s done in an hour. I let it set out for a while on the pan. Then I put it in the tin to bring it to school.
Get the turkey from the store and bring it home. Then when it’s home, you carve it. Then when you’re done carving it, you eat it. My favorite part is the skin with no hair.
