Singspiration offered at Bethel Presbyterian

READING — Singspiration —a praise and celebration music festival — will be Saturday at Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church.


It will begin at 7 p.m.

Fundraiser for Junker family set for Sunday

WORTHINGTON — A fundraiser to benefit Roman Junker, son of Jason and Michelle Junker, will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 1505 Dover St.

Roast pork sandwiches will be served for a free-will offering, with supplemental funds provided by Thrivent.

Roman has undergone several brain surgeries in his young life and will require more in the future.

Barbecue chicken on menu for St. Ann’s dinner

SLAYTON — The annual Pit BBQ Chicken Dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Divine Mercy Hall at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Adrian.

The menu will feature chicken, baked potato, cole slaw, home-grown corn, homemade pies and beverages. Carry-out meals will be available.

Crafts and produce will also be for sale.

Fall dinner served at Ellsworth parish

ELLSWORTH — St. Mary’s Catholic Church will have its annual Fall Dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

The menu features roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, cole slaw, corn, relishes, dinner rolls, pies, desserts, coffee and milk.

There will also be a Big Ticket raffle, quilt raffle, grocery cart raffle, basket raffle and country store selling homemade goodies, handmade crafts and fresh produce.

Movie showing Sunday at Worthington Christian

WORTHINGTON — A free showing of the movie “Grace Unplugged” will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Worthington Christian Church, 1501 N. Douglas Ave. Free popcorn will be availble.

The movie tells the story of Grace, a teen who is struggling to find her own way — will she take the road leading to fame and fortune or find her way back to her faith and family?

Bethel Lutheran schedules Harvest Dinner on Oct. 11

ROUND LAKE —  Bethel Lutheran Church, Round Lake, will host its Harvest Dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 11.

The menu includes bone-in ham, homemade raisin sauce, meatballs, buns and desserts.

Mark calendar for ALC’s Smorgasbord

WORTHINGTON — The Scandinavian Smorgasbord will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at American Lutheran Church, 915 Winifred St. Use the main entrance at Winifred and 11th Street (elevator available).

The menu will feature turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy and meatballs, as well as Scandinavian specialties such as krumkake, sandbakkels, giftas, fruit soup, lefse and herring.

There will also be entertainment and free babysitting for children 4 years and younger.

Fall dinner coming up at OLGC in Wilmont

WILMONT — The Fall Dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 11 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont.

Pork loin, potatoes, gravy, homegrown corn, homemade applesauce, buns and dessert will be served. There will also be a quilt raffle, Big Ticket, bake sale and silent auction.

Beginning Experience offers weekend retreat

SLAYTON — Beginning Experience of Southwest Minnesota, a peer ministry for people who have  suffered a loss through death, divorce or separation, is offering a weekend retreat Oct. 16-18 at Shetek Lutheran Ministries.

The retreat is intended to help participants close the door gently on the past and move on with renewed home and purpose.
