Buysse helps Arrows slide past Windom

PIPESTONE -- Led by Nicole Buysse's 23 kills and eight blocks Thursday night, the Pipestone Area Arrows claimed a key Southwest Conference volleyball victory over Windom, 25-13, 25-20, 15-25, 25-19.

Faith Tinklenberg charted 11 kills and was 15-for-16 serving for the Arrows, while Beth Tinklenberg had eight blocks and five kills.

Ashley Weatherly distributed 40 set assists, Megan Moffitt was 14-for-14 serving, and Kelsey Lorenzen and Steph Kocourek each had nine digs.

Windom was led by Casey Christensen's nine blocks and seven kills, while MaKenzie Lovell had seven blocks.

Maggie LaMaack led the Eagles in kills with 10, while Megan Ysker (20) and Cassie Oddson (12) were tops in set assists and digs, respectively.

Pipestone Area (2-2, 11-5) visits Murray County Central Monday, while Windom (2-1, 13-4) visits Blue Earth Tuesday.

Marshall 3, Luverne 0

LUVERNE -- The powerful Marshall Tigers pounced on the Luverne Cardinals, sweeping three straight games, 25-9, 25-5, 25-17.

Erin Hoiland had nine digs for the Cardinals, while sharing hitting honors with teammates Hilary Hanson and Meghan Cronberg -- with four kills each.

Dinah Xaphakdy put up 15 set assists for Luverne, while Karrie Xaisongkham came up with six digs.

SSC 3, SWC 0

EDGERTON -- Southwest Star Concept went on the road and came home with a sweep of Southwest Christian, 25-19, 25-16, 25-21.

Linnea Henkels put down 12 kills to lead the Quasars, who remain perfect in the Red Rock Conference at 6-0 (9-3 overall).

Chelsey Cranston registered 20 set assists and 14 service points, and Shannon Hussong came up with 25 digs for the Quasars.

Kelsey Van Dyke led SWC with 16 digs, 12 kills and five ace blocks.

Erin Mouw set for 19 assists, and Kristin Broekhuis served for eight points for the Eagles (3-3, 10-6-2).

SSC plays at the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton tournament Saturday, while SWC hosts Hills-Beaver Creek Tuesday.

Fulda 3, RL-B 0

FULDA -- Getting another balanced performance -- with many players contributing -- the Fulda Raiders swept the Round Lake-Brewster Raiders, 25-17, 25-13, 25-20.

Brittany Freese had a team-high nine digs and was 13-of-15 at the serving line for Fulda (4-1, 12-2-1), as she chalked up nine service points, including an ace.

Tammy Peterson served a pair of aces, as she scored 10 points on a perfect 13-of-13 effort from the line.

Kaitlyn Kramer (13 kills) and Laura Kramer (nine kills) each had a trio of ace blocks, while Sam Raddle distributed 30 set assists.

Amanda Baumgarn had six kills and 10 digs for RL-B (2-3, 6-4), while Kelli Correll (five kills), Kasey McNab (22 set assists) and Casie Smith (14-of-14 serving, seven points, four aces) also contributed statistically.

Adrian 3, W-WG 1

ADRIAN -- Receiving a balanced effort, the Adrian Dragons defeated Westbrook-Walnut Grove, 25-16, 10-25, 25-18, 25-22.

Leading the Dragons in serving were Bridgett Block (13 points, four aces), Kelsey Tjepkes (12 points) and Jessica Loosbrock (six points, three aces).

Kayla Bullerman topped Adrian in set assists (14) and kills (six), while Tjepkes and Briana Niebuhr led with 13 digs apiece.

Hayley Vaske had five kills and two blocks. Megan Graff and Katlin Wiertsema each had two blocks, as well, for the Dragons.

Denise Tietz led W-WG with 27 set assists, 18 digs and a 23-for-24 serving (five aces) performance.

Whitney Frank was 16-for-16 serving (two aces) and also had eight kills and three blocks for the Chargers.

Audra Schmidt (12 kills, three blocks) and Kylie Erickson (13 digs, eight kills) also contributed for W-WG.

Adrian (2-4, 3-12-3) plays at Red Rock Central Tuesday, while W-WG (2-4, 6-10-2) goes to Round Lake-Brewster the same night.

ML-B-O 3, H-BC 0

HILLS -- Ashley Karschnik had 19 set assists, and Lynsey Haglund added 12 kills as Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin swept Hills-Beaver Creek, 25-18, 25-17, 25-20.

Kaysee Nesmoe picked up seven kills and two blocks, Lacey Janzen had nine kills and Emily Harrington five aces for ML-B-O (5-10-1).

Amanda Tilstra led H-BC (0-14-1) with 15 set assists, Chelsey Fink had six kills and Ashley Hoyme followed with two blocks.

H-BC visits Edgerton Tuesday.

MCC 3, RRC 0

SLAYTON -- The Murray County Central Rebels improved to 6-2 in the Red Rock Conference with a 25-16, 25-13, 25-22 sweep of the Red Rock Central Falcons.

Emily Bose led the Rebels with nine kills, followed by Renee Felber with seven and Laura Beers with six. Beers also was 10-of-10 serving for seven points and had 16 set assists in the match.

Caitlyn Petersen was 8-of-8 serving for six points and added 10 set assists, while Ashley Bose had eight points serving with an ace and Erin Spartz had six points. Alison Carlson had two kills and five ace blocks for the Rebels.

RRC was led by Danielle Trapp with eight kills, two blocks and an ace at the service line. Krystle Sell was 6-of-6 serving, posted 22 set assists, had two kills and four digs.

Ashley Neperman and Molly Sykora had seven and six kills, respectively, for the Falcons (2-4, 7-12). Tina Hillesheim was 9-of-9 serving with an ace.

Edgerton 3, Ellsworth 0

ELLSWORTH -- Alexa Vanden Bosch set up her teammates 29 times, was 13-of-14 serving for 10 points and posted three aces to lead the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen (6-1, 13-4-1) past Ellsworth, 25-18, 25-14, 25-9.

Amy Kallemeyn had 12 kills to lead Edgerton's attack, while Heather Van Kley had two ace blocks.

Brooke Kramer led Ellsworth by knocking down six kills to go along with six blocks. Kramer also was 8-of-10 serving with an ace.

Ellsworth's Amanda Connors was 9-of-10 serving for five points and posted eight set assists. Brooke Kix had 14 digs on the night.

Edgerton is at Luverne on Tuesday, while Ellsworth is at the R-T-R tournament on Saturday.
