Huskies and Cardinals advance in Section 3AA playoffs
ST. JAMES -- Jackson County Central will advance to the finals of the Sub-Section 3AA South girls' basketball tournament, as the Huskies defeated the Windom Eagles, 90-66, Tuesday evening.
Anna Meneely paced the Huskies (15-10) with 19 points and seven steals, while Brooke Burmeister posted an 18 point, 10 rebound double-double.
Kate Rentschler, Megan Bezdicek and Ashley Kruse (seven rebounds, five steals and five assists) each scored 12 points on the night for JCC, and Whitney Burmeister finished with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Eagles, who end their season with a 7-19 mark, were led by Megan Ysker's 22 points. Megan Mattson added 10 points.
The Huskies will square off against the Fairmont Cardinals at 8 p.m. Friday night in Redwood Falls for the Sub-Section South championship.

ST. JAMES -- The Cardinals' Sam Waletich scored a game-high 25 points to send the Arrows packing Tuesday night in the Sub-Section 3AA South girls' basketball playoffs.
Ashley Alleven added a 19 point, 12 rebound double-double for Fairmont (14-9), while Alyssa Niss scored 13 points.
The Cardinals, who have won six consecutive contests, shot 25-of-47 from the field as opposed to the Arrows 22-of-59.
The Arrows end their season with a 17-6 record.
Bailey Bouman led PA with 18 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Brooke Woelber finished with 10 points.
The Cardinals will square off against the Jackson County Central Huskies at 8 p.m. Friday night in Redwood Falls for the Sub-Section 3AA South championship.

GRANADA -- The Mustangs proved to much for the visiting Wolverines Tuesday night in the Section 2A playoff, as Stephanie Stensland's 15 points paced G-H-EC to its 24th consecutive victory of the year.
Alyssa Cegelske added 11 points, while Ashley Walterman and Mercedes Johnson finished with 10 points apiece for the Mustangs.
The Wolverines, who end their season with a 3-23 mark, were led by Brittany Wenner with six points. Megan Svalland had five points to go along with 11 rebounds, while Karen Herrig and Courtney Anderson finished with four points apiece.
