Board sets February referendum date

Obituary: Raymond Earl Obermoller

Raymond Earl Obermoller, 89, was born at home on February 6, 1919, three miles south of Brewster, Minnesota, the son of John and Mollie Kraft Obermoller. He grew up and attended Brewster Public School. Ray and Verena Luitjens were married on October 15, 1939, at the Trinity Lutheran

Church in Brewster.

During World War II, they moved to the Twin Cities, where Ray worked for Northwest Aeronautical Glider Corporation building gliders for the war. They returned to the Brewster area, where they farmed most of their life. They retired from farming in 1980 and moved to Worthington,

Minnesota, in 1985. Verena preceded Ray in death on July 7, 1990, after 50 years of marriage. On May 5, 1991, Ray married Gert Webert. They were married 8 years. Gert preceded him in death on July 22, 1999. On December 20, 2000, Ray married Evelyn Luitjens. Ray served on the church

board as an elder for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping and wintering in Texas. He also loved to play cards.

Ray died on Friday, May 9, 2008, at his residence in Worthington,


Ray is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Worthington; four children, Larry Obermoller, of Spirit Lake, IA, Rona Rae Springer, of Northfield, MN; Jerry (Debbie) Obermoller, of Mooresville, NC, and Joy (Michael) Knorr, of Fulda, MN; one daughter-in-law, Connie Voss, of Worthington, MN; twelve grandchildren, Ninette, Russell and Rodney, Nathan, Gretchen, Owen

and Naomi, Bethany and Andrew, and Ryan, Paul and Reid; ten great grand-

children; two brothers, Gilbert (Mary) Obermoller and Earl (Viola) Obermoller, both of Worthington, MN, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Obermoller, of Brewster, MN. He was preceded in death by Verena and Gert; his grandson, Dustin, and his brother, Amos.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at 10:30 a.m.,

at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Worthington, Minnesota, with the

Rev. Robert Schulze officiating. Casket bearers are Russell and Rodney

Obermoller, Nathan and Owen Springer, Andrew Obermoller, and Ryan, Paul and Reid Knorr.

Honorary casket bearer is Dustin Obermoller.

Burial is in the Hersey Cemetery near Brewster.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, from 5-8 pm at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and also from 9:00-10:30 at the church on Wednesday.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of arrangements.
