Brief: VanEss Dairy to host open house

SANBORN, Iowa -- The public is invited to attend an open house at VanEss Dairy, 2996 Sorrel Ave., Sanborn, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 16.

The event will include self-guided tours, chances for questions to be answered, and a free hamburger and brat dinner from noon to 2 p.m., provided by Farm Credit Services.

The dairy began production on Feb. 3, after the VanEss's moved their herd and their family from Idaho.

"We had been searching for a place to settle our growing dairy for years, and we are excited to be a part of this community. Our family, children included, hope to give back to our neighbors personally by becoming contributing members of the community, and economically by helping to stimulate the local economy," said Lisa VanEss.

VanEss Dairy, is run by Harvey and Lisa VanEss, and their sons Joshua, Tyler and Todd, Jeremy and his wife, Patricia; and Chad and his wife, Kymlee.

Midwest Dairy Association is helping to sponsor the event.
