Dense fog advisory issued for southwest Minnesota, northwest Iowa

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - A dense fog advisory will remain in effect until 9 a.m. Monday for northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota, including Murray, Cottonwood, Nobles, Rock, Pipestone and Jackson counties in Minnesota and Lyon, Osceola, O'Brien and Dickinson counties in Iowa.

Very moist low-level air will continue tonight and Monday over the area, the National Weather Service warned, which will favor a continuation of dense fog or fog that will become dense.

Fog is expected to become dense by late evening, with visibilities less than a quarter mile. Dense fog will continue into Monday morning. Late tonight and early Monday, temperatures are expected to dip just below freezing, which may create freezing fog on untreated road surfaces.

A dense fog advisory means visibility will frequently be reduced to less than a quarter of a mile. Drivers should slow down, use their headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead.
