Osceola County Fair starts today

SIBLEY, Iowa -- Osceola County Fair organizers are adding a popular regional activity to the fair this year: Figure Eight races.

"It's our first time, so it should be interesting," said Brad Dreessen, a member of the fair board. Twelve cars are already signed up to race starting at 7 p.m. Friday near the grandstand.

Another new event will be a car burnout competition, also Friday night. "It's been popular in a couple of little towns around here," Dreessen said. "They'll see how much smoke they can get out of them.

Other highlights include a NTPA Tractor Pull at 7 p.m. Wednesday and demolition derby at 7 p.m. Saturday, both by the grandstand.
