Blowing and drifting snow expected tonight, with slick spots on roadways
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement about blowing and drifting snow for Pipestone, Murray, Cottonwood, Nobles and Jackson counties in Minnesota and Osceola and Dickinson counties in Iowa.
North to northwest winds ranging from 15 to 25 miles per hour will continue this evening, behind a strong cold front which has pushed across the region. These winds will likely cause local visibility reductions of a mile or less in the country.
More importantly, the National Weather Service noted, slick spots could occur on roadways as any blowing or drifting snow freezes to the road surface.
Winds are expected to subside by late evening.
