Town & Country Days this weekend

JACKSON -- Jackson's annual Town & Country Days festival will be enlivened Saturday by an entirely new event that promises great fun and entertainment for those 21 and older.

"We are doing a pub crawl that will take place between two local establishments (Bridget's Bucksnort's Brew Ha Ha & and Grill and Pillars Pub & Eatery) and have live music," Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce Director Sharon Henning said, "It will go until 1 a.m., and people can move between the two places."

Henning added that the 2013 celebration promises to feature ooh- and ahh-inducing fun for those of all ages.

"After the Jackson Speedway races on Saturday night, there will be a fireworks show," Henning said.

Saturday will also provide an opportunity for interested attendees to support local businesses and find excellent bargains.

"We really expanded our downtown Crazy Days to include crafters and home-based businesses," she explained. "You can start in the morning with an omelet breakfast from the Knights of Columbus, do some shopping and bring the kids to Ashley Park to enjoy activities there."

And, to work off any food one might ingest, the Jackson Triathlon for Health -- sponsored by Sanford -- is taking place on Friday night for adults and Saturday morning for children. Additionally, a ribbon-cutting event for the new section of trails in Jackson will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the Jackson County Central High School parking lot.
