Detour for U.S. 59 north of Worthington begins Aug. 5
WORTHINGTON -- The U.S. Highway 59 detour is expected to expand on Aug. 5 for construction on the north edge of Worthington for about two months as the city replaces culverts and makes other infrastructure improvements.
The detour for Highway 59 motorists north of I-90 will include Nobles County Roads 25, 7 and 14.</p><p>Worthington was awarded a Transportation Economic Development (TED) grant to extend the 4-lane divided section of Hwy 59 north 1,200 feet, and to construct and extend turning lanes. These improvements will open up 750 acres for a new industrial park and create access to a new bioscience park. The new industrial park is expected to create 440 jobs in the next five years.
South of I-90, U.S. 59 motorists continue to be detoured to Nobles County Road 10 until the completion of the Minnesota 60 reconstruction this fall.
