Library system to offer Ordway trip

WORTHINGTON — The Nobles County Library, in conjunction with the Plum Creek Library System, is sponsoring an April 8 trip to the Ordway Theater to attend the production of “West Side Story.”

Patrons are invited to register at their local public libraries now through March 24 to win tickets and transportation to the musical production. This program is made possible through the State Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Based on a conception of Jerome Robbins of Arthur Laurent’s book, the production features music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and choreography by Jerome Robbins. The musical premiered on Broadway in 1957, and ran for 732 performances before going on tour.  It was nominated for six Tony Awards including “Best Musical” that same year.

This activity is funded through a grant provided by the appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008.

For more information, please call a Plum Creek Library System member library, or the Plum Creek Library System headquarters, at 376-5803.
