Friday crash claims life of 17-year-old male
STORDEN — A 17-year-old male died Friday as a result of a one-vehicle crash on Minnesota 30.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a Chrysler Sebring operated by Jonathan Escobar Lopez of Storden was traveling westbound on Minnesota 30 at approximately 7:34 a.m. Friday. Vehicle tire marks indicate the vehicle went off the north side of the highway and hit gravel. The vehicle then appeared to overcorrect and cross the eastbound lane of Minnesota 30 before going off the roadway on the south side of the road, striking a sign post in the ditch and then vaulting across a drainage ditch.
Once the Chrysler hit the other side of the ditch, the State Patrol reported, the vehicle appears to have rolled multiple times. It came to rest on its roof with the front of the vehicle facing west.
The driver was in the vehicle with his seatbelt on when emergency crews arrived at the scene.
