Child hurt in vehicle collision with cow

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- An 11-year-old boy was hurt Friday morning when the truck he was riding in collided with a cow.

According to a Minnesota State Patrol report, Royal Dean Larson, 45, of Windom, Minn., was driving a 2014 Ford pickup truck east on Highway 1 in Shooks Township at about 12:09 a.m. when he hit a cow in the road.

Larson was not hurt, but his 11-year-old passenger sustained non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center. Both the driver and the child were wearing seat belts.

No information about the condition of the cow was available. Shooks Township is about 40 miles northeast of Bemidji.
