Christensen joins UPB lending team

WILMONT — The lending team of United Prairie Bank in Wilmont has gained a longtime banker in Michael Christensen.

A graduate of Dana College in Blair, Neb., and the Graduate School of Banking in Colorado, Christensen has an extensive background in leadership and ag lending. He is a familiar face in the Wilmont and Worthington area, having spent a good portion of his banking career in the area.

“I am thrilled to join the United Prairie team to take on a new challenge in my career,” he said. “United Prairie is a strong organization that can offer the best of both worlds when it comes to small-town, personal service and the technology capabilities of a large bank.”

Christensen will be joining veteran Wilmont lender and Market President Dick Schlichte to round out the lending team. Hewill also be working closely with the Worthington lending team of Jason Schutz and Ryan Weber to serve that market as well.

Christensen has been active with community involvement in the Worthington area, including the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce and the Nobles County Bankers Association. He is an active member of American Lutheran Church, serving in various capacities over the years. He has also recently agreed to serve on the Worthington Health Care Foundation Board.

Christensen and his wife, Emily, have two children, Grayson, 13, and Ainsley, 11. In the winter, the family enjoys downhill skiing and snowboarding. In the summer, Christensen plays some golf, but mostly enjoys spending time with family and friends.
