Osceola County Sheriff’s Office: 12:20 p.m. Saturday. A 2012 Chevy Silverado operated by Ryan Patrick Newman, 17, of Wilmont and registered to Michael Alvin Hoffman of Rushmore was exiting from Iowa 60 onto Osceola County A22 but was unable to stop due to the icy roadway and the weight of its livestock trailer loaded with hogs. The Chevy slid across A22 and entered the south ditch, where it jackknifed and rolled onto its left side under the fifth wheel pin. The Chevy and trailer received approximately $23,000 in damage. Two hogs were killed, and another two had to be put down. No injuries were reported.
Osceola County Sheriff’s Office: 9:20 p.m. Saturday. A 2000 Ford Explorer operated by Ross Anthony Windorski, 41, of Omaha, Neb. was northbound on Iowa 60, lost control due to driving too fast for conditions, entered the east ditch and rolled several times before coming to rest on the passenger side. Windorski and a passenger, Kent A. Windorski, were transported by Sibley Ambulance to Osceola Community Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. The driver was cited for no driver’s license, no insurance-accident related, failure to maintain control and no seatbelt.
