SD man, 59, who held woman he met at bar for days arrested for kidnapping

SIOUX FALLS -- A 59-year-old Sioux Falls man who is accused of taking a woman home from the bar, sexually assaulting her and then refused to let her leave for days has been arrested for kidnapping.

Sioux Falls police said Friday, July 6,  that Kermit Lee Lewis was arrested by the SWAT team on Thursday night at a west Sioux Falls apartment. Crisis negotiators were also used in the operation. Lewis was taken into custody without incident.

Police said the man met the woman at the bar last Friday, June 29, and they left the bar around  1 a.m. on Saturday and went to his apartment.

Once there, the victim said Lewis kept her from leaving and that during that time he sexually assaulted her and beat her.

On Thursday morning, July 5, he let her go, police said.

She reported it to police and a search warrant was issued, which led to his arrest.
