Man faces additional charge after showing up to court drunk

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Sheldon man now faces an additional charge after showing up at the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids, drunk.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 4:50 p.m., 52-year-old Joey Espeland of Sheldon reported to the Sheriff’s Office to serve a jail sentence on a prior charge. When he got there, it was determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Espeland was arrested for public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor.
