Killer died from complications of ulcer

WILLMAR — A rural Paynesville man sentenced to more than 30 years in prison for a shooting death in 2011 died last month from natural causes connected to “complications of a perforated gastric ulcer,’’ according to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Delbert Huber, 83, was brought to a St. Paul hospital, where he died June 11.

Lori Hedican, chief investigator for the office, said the Department of Corrections investigates the deaths of all prisoners in its custody. Because of the circumstances of the murder case, it was deemed necessary to do an autopsy, Hedican said.

She said the autopsy report did not indicate how long Huber had suffered from the ulcer.
