Officials investigate apparent arson in Morrison County

NORTH PRAIRIE—Officials are investigating an apparent arson after an abandoned house burned in Morrison County.

Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen reported the office received a report of an explosion at 2:55 a.m. Aug. 21 on the 1800 block of 150th Avenue. The Bowlus Fire Department responded to the scene 2 miles south of North Prairie in Two Rivers Township, finding the house engulfed in flames.

According to the sheriff's office, officials believe the fire was set intentionally and the case is under investigation as arson. The State Fire Marshal's office is assisting the sheriff's office with this active investigation.

The Minnesota Arson Reward Project is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this incident. Those with information are asked to contact the hotline at 1-800-723-2020, or the Morrison County Sheriff's Office at 320-632-9233.
