Little Rock Corn Show begins Thursday
LITTLE ROCK, Iowa -- The Little Rock Corn Show gets under way Thursday with the Miss Little Rock and Little Miss Little Rock queen contest at 7 p.m. Bingo will follow.
Food stands will be available beginning Thursday and through the weekend, and all the corn, vegetable and flower displays and commercial exhibit booths will be in the Town and Country Building.
The rest of the festival schedule is as follows:
FRIDAY: 1 p.m., kids races, ½ block south of the school; 5:30 p.m., entertainment by Larry and Mona Beers, under the tent.
SATURDAY: 8 a.m. (registration at 7:30 a.m.), 25-mile bike ride or 5-mile walk, Town and Country Park; 10:30 a.m., pedal pull, Main Street; noon to 3:30 p.m., race car display; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., pork dinner, city hall; 1:30 p.m., Golf Ball Roll; 2 p.m., Corn Show Parade; 5:30 p.m., entertainment begins under the tent; 9 p.m. to midnight, teen dance featuring Corey Storm.
SUNDAY: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., omelet and German pancake breakfast, free-will donation; 10 a.m., community church service, under the tent; noon, co-ed sand volleyball tournament; 1 p.m., beanbag tournament, antique tractor show, Town and Country Park; 2 p.m., soap box derby, watertower.
