Letter: Exchange student enjoys first prom

By Lars Opaczek, Crailshem exchange student to Worthington

Hello Worthington,

I moved to my last guest family, the Lindners, which is going pretty well so far. I think we are having a lot of fun together. Over Easter we visited my new grandparents in Canistota, S.D., and Ellsworth. Easter is pretty much celebrated like the way we do it in Germany. After a good meal, we went outside to hunt some eggs. I really enjoyed my Easter weekend and the good weather we had.

Track season has been exciting so far. I’m improving myself week for week and already placed in some events. My favorite events are the 100s, 4x200s and 4x400s. We are already in week nine of 12, and time is running by.

Two weeks ago, I went to my first prom. It was a great experience and also a lot of fun. I enjoyed everything from the grand march to the hypnotist, but at the end I was really tired and slept though most of the next day.

On the 28th of May, my parents will come over to the United States to visit me and to meet all the people I had the pleasure to meet. For that I want to invite everyone to my Graduation Party from 7 to 9 p.m. May 30 at the Atrium.

In my next letter I will talk about my trip to Kansas City and about my graduation. I’m looking forward to the summer vacation and also to see my family again.
