Letter: To respect the flag, stand for it
By Ronald Reynolds, Worthington
I agree with Marvin Heeren on his Nov. 8 letter to the editor.
You wonder how much equality we would have if Davy Crockett knelt at the Alamo, or Grant at Gettysburg, MacArthur in Europe, Westmoreland in Vietnam. The list could go on.
When our children and grandchildren see their football heroes disrespect the flag, what does that instill in their way of thinking?
We’ve seen newsreels of our veterans, past and present, who have knelt for our flag out of respect — not disrespect — and then shot in the backs of their heads.
