Letter: Time to ‘Ring the Bell’ to help in Nobles County

By Nobles County Service Extension Volunteers

The Salvation Army of Nobles County invites you to volunteer to "Ring the Bell" for Salvation Army to help children and families in need here in Nobles County.

The money from "Ringing the Bell":

  • Provides emergency temporary help to those who cannot be filled through normal government agencies
  • This is the largest fundraiser of the year for The Salvation Army of Nobles County
  • Eighty-eight percent of the money donated in Nobles County stays right here in Nobles County to help our neighbors and friends (the other 12 percent goes to World Services).

We are contacting local churches/ business and organizations to help us “Ring the Bell” this year. You will be able to find the perfect fit for your schedule from our two-hour time slot options at one of four Worthington locations: Hy-Vee, Shopko, Schwalbach Ace Hardware and Runnings. Please go to the online schedule and volunteer registration form at https://www.signupgenius.com/index.cfm?go=w.ProcessCreate7&requesttimeout=360 to schedule your time slot today, or call Cindy at (507) 329-6571 to schedule a time. Feel free to sign up more than once.

Extend an invitation to friends, family and other organizations to help "Ring the Bell" in support of those in need here in Nobles County. Please note that volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

If you would rather not “Ring the Bell” but would still like to help, you can make a monetary donation. We would ask that checks be made to The Salvation Army of Nobles County and write “kettles” on the memo line of your check. Please mail those checks to our local treasurer at Gene Foth, 1611 S Shore Drive, Worthington 56187.

The kettle campaign runs from Nov. 17 through Dec. 24. This will assure your donation will go toward the 2017 Red Kettle campaign. Thank you!
