Eagles knock off SWU, JCC beats ML/B-O

WINDOM -- The Windom Eagles scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to break the game open and defeat the visiting Southwestern United Wildcats, 11-6, Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action.

Sam Fischenich earned the victory on the hill for the Eagles, who end the regular season with a 7-12 record. Fischenich gave up three earned runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking two over four innings.

Octovio Jimenez suffered the loss for the Wildcats (5-12), giving up four earned runs on six hits while striking out two and walking two in 2 1/3 innings of work.

Pat Rhubee was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles to lead the Eagles at the plate. Brett Dumke was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI, while Bryce Grove was 2-for-4 with a double. Colin Tritz went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI, and Lukas Gotto had a pair of hits.

Tyler Timko was 3-for-4 and batted in two runs at the plate for SWU. Mike Stenzel went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a double, while Garet Rogers had a pair of hits and an RBI.

The Eagles open the Section 3A playoff against Murray County Central Saturday in Adrian.

MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Ryan Rasche's two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning was helped lift the visiting Huskies to a 9-5 victory over the host Wolverines Tuesday evening in a non-conference baseball tilt.

Alex Hohenstein snatched the victory on the mound for the Huskies, allowing no runs on no hits while striking out one and walking three in 1 2/3 innings of relief.

Kyle Schroeder suffered the loss for ML/B-O (9-11), giving up three earned runs on four hits while striking out two and walking three in two innings of work.

Following Rasche at the plate for the Huskies was Jason Cook, who belted a double and a single. Trevor Hage also had a pair of hits,

The Wolverines were led by Austin Hopwood, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
