PREP BASKETALL ROUNDUP: SSC wins close game; Jarmer scores 1,000th career point for W-WG

OKABENA -- Red Rock Central jumped out to an early 13-6 lead in Monday's Red Rock Conference boys' basketball game against Southwest Star Concept.

However, the Quasars answered with a 34-11 run over the next 16 minutes en route to a 55-43 victory.

SSC, which has won 10 consecutive games, was led by William Cranston's 15 points and six rebounds.

Cory Pelzel had 11 points, while Jeremy Crocker had nine points and six rebounds for the Quasars (15-4, 10-3).

Ben Scheevel added six rebounds, while Andrew Rossow dished out four assists.

For the Falcons (6-14, 3-10), Tyler Erickson scored 14 points and dished out six assists, while Jake Fredrickson scored 12 points.

Aaron Furth pulled down 10 rebounds for RRC, which will host Fulda Friday.

SSC will host Hills-Beaver Creek in a battle of two top conference teams Friday.

WESTBROOK -- Needing 15 points to clip the 1,000-career mark, Westbrook-Walnut Grove's Jace Jarmer scored 20 points to lead the Chargers past Round Lake-Brewster.

Jarmer, who finished with 12 rebounds, scored his milestone point in the second half on a hook shot in the lane.

Mason Comnick added 12 points, five steals and five assists, while Kyle Baumann scored 11 points for W-WG (13-6, 8-5).

RL-B was led by Dillon Hansen's nine points, while Jeremy Nelson and Alex Busch each scored eight points.

W-WG will travel to Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Friday. RL-B will travel to Murray County Central the same evening.

EDGERTON -- Zach Huisken scored a game-high 22 points to lead Southwest Christian to a conference victory.

Nic Pfeifle scored 17 points, while Derek Tinklenberg (13) and Jared Mouw (12) each scored in double figures.

Codi Gunnink had a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Chace Hulstein had a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead Edgerton (9-10, 6-7).

Alex Heard scored 14 points, while Pat Kleinjan dished out six assists for the Flying Dutchmen, who had a 33-30 lead at halftime.

SWC will travel to Pipestone Area tonight, while Edgerton visits Ellsworth Friday.

MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Kyle Lewis scored 25 points for Murray County Central, leading the Rebels to a 12-point conference victory against host Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin.

Kyle DeLong added 15 points for the Rebels, who had a 34-30 lead at halftime.

Beau Herrig scored 11 points to go along with 11 rebounds and five steals for the Wolverines, while Steven Herrig (11 points) and Kyle Fast (10) each scored in double figures.

ML/B-O will host Westbrook-Walnut Grove Friday.

JEFFERS -- Facing the No. 8 team in Class A, Red Rock Central continued its winning ways with an 11-point victory.

Cedar Mountain/Comfrey entered with a 21-1 record, but trailed 24-23 at halftime, as the Falcons earned a key victory.

Krystle Sell scored 20 points, dished out four assists and had three steals for the Falcons (18-3), while Thea Engen scored 18 points to go along with nine rebounds, seven steals, five assists and two blocks.

Cierra Nickel added seven points and three steals.

Alyssa Rose scored 13 points to lead CM/C, while Jaime Hanson added nine points for the Cougars, who outrebounded RRC, 35-21.

RRC will host Westbrook-Walnut Grove tonight.

HILLS -- Casey Thooft scored a game-high 16 points to lead Russell-Tyler-Ruthton to a non-conference victory against Hills-Beaver Creek.

Kristin Fritz and Lindsey Willert each added 14 points for R-T-R (13-10).

Emily Kruger scored 15 points to lead H-BC (2-16).

Heather Kerner added 10 points, while Natalie Stueven pulled down eight rebounds.

H-BC will host Edgerton tonight.
