AMATEUR BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Kontz's walk-off hit lifts Adrian

ADRIAN -- Cody Kontz had a walk-off base hit that scored Joel Hoffman and gave Adrian a 3-2 win in 10 innings Wednesday night during an amateur baseball game against Milroy.

With the game tied at 2 in the bottom of the 10th, Jason Stubbe came up with a base hit. Hoffman subbed in as a pinch runner and Kontz brought him home with the game-winning single.

Jordon Kontz pitched the top half of the 10th, struck out two and earned the win.

Milroy's Andy Ogdahl had the no decision, despite striking out 12 batters through nine innings.

Adrian (15-11) travels on Sunday to Minneota.

Wilmont 3, Pipestone 2

WILMONT -- Adam Diekmann drilled a walk-off single, Justin Saufley struck out 12 batters and Wilmont edged Pipestone.

Diekmann's game-ending hit brought Josh Feller home, and improved the Cardinals to 13-7 on the season. It was Diekmann's second RBI of the game.

Saufley gave up just one earned run in a complete-game effort, and he had two hits at the plate.

Nate Storr also had a pair of hits for Wilmont, which heads to Milroy on Saturday.

Hadley 10, Tracy 3

TRACY -- Pat O'Brien mowed down 15 -- count 'em, 15 -- batters to carry Hadley past Tracy.

O'Brien went the distance, gave up three runs on seven hits and walked a pair of batters.

Taylor Rignell had three RBIs for the Buttermakers (13-13), and Alex Petersen knocked in two more runs.

Hadley's Alex Van't Hof, Matt Ackerman, Joe Larson and Marty Van Peursem each went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Hadley hosts Pipestone on Friday.

Spencer 9, HL 3

SPENCER, Iowa -- Spencer scored eight of its nine runs in the second inning and cruised past Heron Lake.

The Lakers (8-13) got an RBI single from Tom Albrecht and a pair of hits from Matt Franks (2-for-3), but couldn't score any runs past the third inning to make up ground.

Lon Eichenberger pitched six innings and took the loss.

It was HL's final game of the regular season, so the Lakers will gear up for next week's First Nite League tournament, which starts on Wednesday.
