Prep Softball: Arrows softball sweeps Marshall
MARSHALL -- The Pipestone Arrows swept the Marshall Tigers 6-1 and 11-1 during a Southwest Conference softball doubleheader Thursday.
Tasia Woelber struck out 15 batters and avoided walking a single runner to lead the Arrows from the mound in Game 1.
Pipestone Area scored two runs in the second and the sixth to breeze by Marshall.
Cassie Evans went 2-for-2 from the plate with an RBI and three stolen bases, while Woelber had an RBI double.
Kelly Nettik threw five strikeouts and walked one to help the Arrows to a win in Game 2.
Paige Peterson went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs to lead Pipestone Area at the plate, while Tiffany Woelber went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and an RBI. Nettik had a four-run home run to go along with Megan Remund's home run.
Pipestone Area (16-1, 12-0) has a bye in the first round of the Section 3AA Southern Division Tournament Monday and will host the winner of the Fairmont-Luverne game in later in the day.

JACKSON -- The Jackson County Central Huskies swept the Windom Eagles during a Southwest Conference softball doubleheader Thursday.
In Game 1, Brooke Klontz took the win for the Huskies, pitching seven innings with six strikeouts and allowing just one earned run. Vesey was credited with the loss for the Eagles.
Jasmine Erickson and Marita Rasche each had three hits in the game for JCC, while Rasche knocked in four runs.
Moira Carlson was credited with the win for JCC in Game 2 after pitching five innings while giving up one earned run and striking out six batters. Hannah Redmond took the loss for the Eagles.
Adriane Rentschler went 2-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Huskies at the plate. Jenna Stade was 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Meghan Vesey knocked in the only run for the Eagles while going 2-for-3 on the day.
Jackson County Central takes on Worthington in the opening round of the Section 3AA Southern Division Tournament Tuesday in New Ulm, while Windom hosts the winner of Wednesday's Murray County Central-Mountain Lake Area game May 25 in the second round of the Section 3A Tournament.

EDGERTON -- The Edgerton/Southwest Christian Flying Dutchmen and the Adrian Dragon softball teams split a Red Rock Conference doubleheader Thursday.
The Dutchmen took game one, scoring the winning run in the fourth. Tianna Top struck out seven batters to get the win for E/SWC, while Rachel Kontz struck out four in the loss.
Tara DeKam, Jessica Menning and Top all had two hits for the Dutchmen, with DeKam picking up a home run as well. Autumn Engelkes, Courtney Vaske and Heidi Nolte had the Dragons' only hits.
In Game 2, the Dragons used a three-run third to hold off the Dutchmen and earn the split.
Kuntz pitched the second game for Adrian as well, picking up six strikeouts in the win, while Breanna Nelson was credited with the loss (five strikeouts).
Tanner Gunnink went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Dutchmen and Savanah Tinklenberg had a two-run home run.
