WORTHINGTON -- The Worthington Country Club crowned their club champions Sunday, with Brad Wendland and Tammy Fishel taking home first place in the Mens and Ladies Championship Flights, respectively.

"I played good, solid golf all weekend," Wendland said. "The key for me was being able to hit the ball straight and staying out of trouble. We had beautiful weather and the course was in great shape."

Wendland, who shot a 142 on the weekend, opened the tournament Saturday by shooting a 73 (38 - 35) to take a seven stroke lead heading into Sunday's final round. Despite once again struggling on the front nine on Sunday, Wendland settled down on the back nine to shoot a 69 (37-32) to finish out the tournament.

"I struggled on the front nine both days, starting with the first three holes," Wendland said. "But on the back nine, I shot really well. I shot a 32 on the back nine to finish the tournament."

Other winners in the Mens Club Championship included Dave Uppman (Senior Flight, gross 80-77 157), Dave Jueneman (1st Flight, 78-82 160), Bruce Kness (2nd Flight, 84-78 162) and Jeff Barber (3rd Flight, 89-91 180).

Fishel started out the Ladies Club Championship shooting a 47 on Saturday to take the lead in the three golfer Championship Flight.

"I was kind of up and down all weekend and kind of all over the place," Fishel said. "But my putting was good Saturday and that is probably what saved me."

On Sunday, Fishel shoot a 49 to grab the ladies title with a final score of 94.

"For me, the weekend was just a fun weekend to just go out and play with the gals; it was non-stressful for me," Fishel said.

In the Ladies First Flight group, Vida Iten claimed first place with a 105 final score.
