College basketball: Minnesota West wins twice
FERGUS FALLS -- In danger of falling to 0-2 to begin their Southern Division schedule, the Minnesota West men’s basketball team went to overtime to beat host MState-Fergus Falls 93-88 on Saturday.
The Lady Jays, meanwhile moved to 11-4 overall and 2-0 in the division with a 76-69 victory over the Spartans.

West outscored MState 10-5 in the overtime period to prevail.
The scoring was balanced. DeShawn Pickford led with 22 points, Alex Brown scored 21 and Kuol Chol had 20. Jeffrey Hudson chimed in with 12.
Chol had eight rebounds. Pickford had seven rebounds and three assists.
The Bluejays were solid from the field, hitting on 58.2 percent of their tries. They made 15 of 23 free throws.
Chris Tungseth had 26 points for Fergus Falls, and teammates Samuel Priem and Austin Miller chipped in with 24 and 21, respectively.
Though the Spartans shot well from the field (49.2 percent), they converted just 12 of 25 free throw attempts.

The game was tight for most of the way. Neither team led by more than three points at any quarter stop until the Lady Jays finally won it by seven.
Andrea Hinkeldey, the MCAC Southern Division Player of the Week last week, scored 23 points with 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Katherin Ihnen had 16 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Emily Haubrich had six assists and two steals along with 15 points. And Ashlynn Wabeke scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds.
Macky Warne and Taylin Schleicher each scored 19 points for MState-Fergus Falls.
Minnesota West hit 51 percent of its field goals.
