College basketball: Minnesota West earns tight road wins over Morningside JV

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Minnesota West Lady Jays used a steady attack to outlast the Morningside JV 73-69 in a womens college basketball game Monday in Sioux City.

Minnesota West led 34-32 at halftime and built a lead of as many as 16 points in the second half before the Mustangs came back in the tilt’s closing minutes.

“We were cruising but then we let them back in,” Lady Jays coach Mike Fury said. “We missed some free throws and let them back in but fortunatelywere able to get the win on the road.”

Minnesota West rallied from a five-point deficit at halftime to beat the Morningside JV 72-69 in mens college basketball action.

The Bluejays settled down defensively, pressed effectively and used a patient attack offensively to down the Mustangs.

“I was very happy with how we played tonight after we didn’t play very well Saturday,” West coach Justin Heckenlaible said.
