SLAYTON -- In a low-scoring affair, the Murray County Central girls' basketball team broke away from a 17-all tie at halftime for a 39-34 victory against Edgerton on Friday night.

Abby Van Meveren scored 12 points, had six steals and blocked two shots to lead the Rebels, who have an unblemished 3-0 record in the Red Rock Conference.

Haley Bose scored nine points, while Jenna Ness added eight.

Makenzie Giese and Crystal Van Iperen each had seven rebounds for MCC, which outscored the Flying Dutchmen 22-17 in the second half.

Lindsey Drooger scored 15 points to go with 10 rebounds for Edgerton, while Breana Van Dyke scored 10 points, dished out five assists and had three steals in the game.

Racheal Steffl pulled down a game-high 21 rebounds and blocked two shots for Edgerton.

MCC will be off until Jan. 4, when it faces Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

HILLS -- Jayme Plimpton made six 3-pointers and scored 22 points, leading Hills-Beaver Creek to its third conference victory.

Heather Kerner scored 17 points for H-BC, which had a 47-14 lead at halftime. She also added 10 rebounds and eight steals.

Emily Kruger added eight assists and six steals for the Patriots (4-1, 3-1).

Janessa Peters scored a team-high 18 points and had 10 rebounds for the Wolverines.

The Patriots will host Luverne on Monday.

WABASSO -- Four players scored in double figures as Adrian improved to 5-0 with a victory in the Wabasso Holiday Tournament.

Karli Meyer scored 19 points and had eight rebounds, while Sydne Springman scored 14 points. Austyn Thier and Shaina Lonneman (seven rebounds) each scored 10 points in the game.

Nicole Loosbrock dished out seven assists for the Dragons (5-0), who had a 41-24 lead at the halftime break.

Kate Johnston scored 15 points to lead Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, while Tiffani Karbo added 14 for the Panthers.

The Dragons will face Wabasso in the championship game today, while T-M-B will face Red Rock Central.

ELLSWORTH -- Bridget Kramer hit five 3-pointers and scored 25 points and the Ellsworth defense did the rest in a win against Mountain Lake Christian.

Andrea DeBoer added 18 points for the Panthers (3-4), who had a 30-17 lead at halftime.

Abby Drenth had eight rebounds to lead Ellsworth, while Emily Timmer had five.

The Panthers will host Red Rock Central on Tuesday.

JACKSON -- Leslie Handzus scored a team-high 23 points and the Huskies were nearly flawless from the free-throw line in a convincing Southwest Conference victory.

Handzus, who was 11-for-13 from the free-throw line, added six assists, six steals and five rebounds for Jackson County Central, which had a 40-22 lead at halftime.

The Huskies finished 22 for 27 from the line in the game.

Courtney Kruse added 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals, while Whitney Burmeister scored 14 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out nine assists and blocked four shots.

Kaylee Benson scored 10 points to go along with five steals and four assists for the Huskies, who forced 23 turnovers in the game.

Liz Smith scored 23 points for Redwood Valley (1-4, 0-3).

The Huskies, who improve to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference, will travel to face Marshall in a key SWC game on Tuesday.

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa -- Lexi Ackerman scored a team-high 23 points, including a key three-point play in the second possession of overtime, leading Central Lyon to a seven-point victory.

Jennifer Johnson scored 11 points for the Lions (5-3), who had a 16-15 lead at halftime. The teams were tied at 40-all after regulation.

Sadie Knobloch had eight rebounds, while Ackerman added six steals for CL, which was 9-for-13 from the free-throw line in overtime.

Whitney Vander Maten scored 13 points to lead B-H.

The Lions will travel to Sibley-Ocheyedan on Tuesday.
