Board sets February referendum date

PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: MCC, W-WG and SSC tie for second in conference

SLAYTON -- Ashley Woldt had a match-high nine kills, leading Murray County Central to a sweep of Round Lake-Brewster in a Red Rock Conference match on Monday night.

With the win, the Rebels finished 13-7 overall and 9-2 in the conference to earn a tie for second place. Westbrok-Walnut Grove and Southwest Star Concept also finished 9-2 this season.

Game scores were 25-10, 25-22 and 25-14.

Makenzie Giese and Macy Halbur each had six kills for MCC, while Taylor Jurrens had 12 service points and two aces. Kristi Bose had 10 service points and a pair of aces, while Paris Thomas had 19 set assists.

For Round Lake-Brewster (4-20, 0-11), Kailey Wendland (two blocks) and Sarah Baumgard each had five kills.

Zoe Baerenwald was 10-for-10 serving with a pair of aces, while Baumgard was 8-for-10 serving with three aces.

Baumgard led the Raiders with 16 digs, while Wendland had 15. Baerenwald led RL-B with nine set assists.

MCC will host Ellsworth on Monday in the first round of the Section 3A playoffs, while RL-B will travel to Westbrook-Walnut Grove the same night.

W-WG 3, ML/B-O 0

MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Paige Erickson led the Chargers with 11 kills, seven digs and was 7-for-9 serving with an ace as Westbrook-Walnut Grove tied for second place in the conference with a 9-2 mark.

The Chargers (18-9 overall) won by scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-16.

Hunter Priegnitz was 21-for-22 serving with two aces to lead W-WG, while Dayna Comnick was 14-for-15 serving with one ace to go with three kills and a block.

Abby Herding was 4-for-5 serving with two aces to go with six set assists, while Hailey Osland had seven kills, six digs and 3.5 blocks.

Maddie Frank added six digs and a block, while Anne Woelber led W-WG with 19 set assists.

The Chargers will host Round Lake-Brewster on Monday in the first round of playoffs.

SSC 3, H-BC 0

HILLS -- Courtney Place led Southwest Star Concept with 13 kills and 14 digs as the Quasars defeated Hills-Beaver Creek 25-18, 25-15 and 25-9 in a conference match.

Jennifer Schmidt added six kills and three solo blocks, while Alyssa Hendrickson had five kills and three solo blocks for SSC (18-10, 9-2).

Jordin Elness was 17-for-17 serving with 13 points and four aces to go with 11 set assists.

Maddie Rasche was 15-for-15 serving with 10 points and 17 digs, while Mandy Henkels had a team-best 16 assists. Autumn Hinkeldey added three solo blocks for SSC, which will play next on Oct. 28.

H-BC was led by Meghan Leuthold, who had six kills. Haley Van Wyhe had five kills, while Hattie Van Wyhe had seven digs and two ace blocks.

Paige Leuthold was 11-for-11 serving with two aces to go with 20 set assists, while Natalie Leuthold was 8-for-8 serving with two aces and added five digs.

H-BC (4-18, 2-9) will travel to Red Rock Central on Monday in the first round of section playoffs.

Adrian 3, Edgerton 0

EDGERTON -- Sydne Springman had nine kills and four blocks as Adrian swept Edgerton in a conference match.

Game scores were 25-23, 25-20 and 25-14.

Carly Wolf had 11 service points to lead Adrian (10-13, 5-6), while Courtney Vaske added nine.

Rachel Kontz charted a team-best 10 set assists, while Nichole Loosbrock had eight.

Kontz also led AHS with 13 digs, while Nina Weidert added nine.

Edgerton (9-16, 3-8) was led by Lindsey Drooger, who had 10 kills. Jessica Menning added five kills and 11 set assists.

Ciara Everett and Sarah Post each had 10 digs for the Flying Dutchmen, while Brittani Roskamp had 10 service points.

Edgerton will travel to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton tonight, while Adrian hosts the same R-T-R team in the first round of the section playoffs on Monday.

Fulda 3, Ellsworth 1

ELLSWORTH -- Silvia Zanini had a match-best 15 kills, leading Fulda to a 25-15, 24-26, 25-17, 25-11 victory against Ellsworth.

Rachel Cheadle added 12 kills and four blocks for the Raiders, who finish 6-5 in the conference this season.

Courtney Hulstein charted 35 set assists and 13 digs, while Brooke Wenzel was 20-for-21 serving with 14 points and two aces. Danielle Hermeling was 16-for-16 serving with 10 points to go with 14 digs, while Sarah Strenge was 13-for-15 serving with one ace and eight points.

Ellsworth was led by Abby Drenth, who had six kills, 12 digs and was 11-for-11 serving with four points.

Emily Timmer added four kills and was 11-for-13 serving with four points. Alexa Huisman was 11-for-13 serving with three aces and six points.

Bridget Kramer was 12-for-12 serving with five points to go with seven set assists, while Kadie Werner was 11-for-13 serving with one ace and six points.

Ellsworth (10-15, 3-8) will travel to Murray County Central on Monday, while Fulda hosts Edgerton the same night as both teams open Section 3A action.
