PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: RRC, W-WG win, set up meeting in next round

JEFFERS -- Chloe Arfsten and Klarissa Larsen combined for 24 kills to lead Red Rock Central to a sweep over Hills-Beaver Creek in Monday night's Section 3A volleyball playoffs.

Game scores were 25-15, 25-15 and 25-9.

Arfsten finished with 12 kills, 10 digs and was 12-for-14 serving with two aces.

Meanwhile, Larsen had 12 kills, two block assists, seven digs and was 10-for-10 serving with an ace.

Katie Larsen added eight kills and three block assists while going 8-for-9 serving with three aces.

Brooke Rasmussen led RRC (17-8) by going 25-for-25 serving with five aces. She also added 11 digs.

Alison Kircher had 33 set assists.

Meghan Leuthold led H-BC with eight kills and three blocks, while Haley Van Wyhe had six kills.

Chelsea Kroon charted seven digs on the night, while Paige Leuthold was 11-for-11 serving to go with 15 set assists.

RRC, which is the fifth seed, will face fourth-seeded Westbrook-Walnut Grove at 7:15 p.m. on Friday in Luverne.

W-WG 3, RL-B 0

WESTBROOK -- Led by the all-around night of Dayna Comnick, Westbrook-Walnut Grove swept Round Lake-Brewster in the first round of the Section 3A volleyball playoffs.

Game scores were 25-14, 25-19 and 25-13.

Comnick was 16-for-18 serving with four aces to go with 11 kills and seven digs for the fourth-seeded Chargers (19-9).

Paige Erickson was 11-for-12 serving with four aces. She added 10 kills and an ace block.

Hunter Priegnitz led W-WG by going 19-for-19 serving, while Hailey Osland had six kills.

Maddie Frank charted six digs, while Karley Deprez led the Chargers with two ace blocks.

Anne Woelber had a team-best 17 set assists, while Abby Herding added 11.

Kailey Wendland led RL-B with seven kills, three blocks and was 7-for-8 serving with one ace.

Halie Spessard was 12-for-12 serving, while Sarah Baumgard (14 digs) and Sonja Peters (nine digs) each had one block.

Zoe Baerenwald added 10 set assists.

The Chargers will face fifth-seeded Red Rock Central on Friday in Luverne.

R-T-R 3, Adrian 1

ADRIAN -- Despite a big night from Sydne Springman, the eighth-seeded Adrian Dragons fell to ninth-seeded Russell-Tyler-Ruthton.

Game scores were 25-17, 22-25, 26-24 and 26-24.

Springman finished with 17 kills, seven blocks, 20 digs and was 14-for-14 serving with six points.

Courtney Vaske added 16 kills, five blocks, 20 digs and was 18-for-19 serving with nine points for the Dragons.

Carly Wolf added 18 digs and eight points serving, while Rachel Kontz had 15 set assists.

Nichole Loosbrock led Adrian with 20 assists to go with six points serving.

The Dragons finish their season with a record of 10-14.
