SECTION 3 9-MAN FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: E/E, H-BC each score 66, will meet Saturday

EDGERTON -- The Edgerton/Ellsworth Flying Dutchmen posted 60 first-half points en route to a big 66-14 win over the Hancock Owls in the opening round of the Section 3, 9-man football playoffs Tuesday night.

Isaac Heard (10-for-21 passing for 165 yards) threw for three touchdowns with each one going to Casey Schilling.

Schilling caught five passes total for 110 yards with touchdown receptions of 50, 16 and five yards.

Blake Jouwstra (five carries for 51 yards) rushed for a pair of first-quarter touchdowns on runs of one yard and three yards.

Derek Voge (five carries for 64 yards) scored a two-yard rushing touchdown while Mitch Leuthold passed to Omar Lopez for a 36-yard touchdown.

Austin LaFollette (three carries for 97 yards) scored a pair of touchdowns in the contest with an 80-yard touchdown run and a 95-yard kick return touchdown for E/E's only score of the second half.

Jordan Menning recorded three sacks while Wade Gunnink posted two sacks for a Flying Dutchmen defense, which limited the Owls to 196 total yards of offense (233 passing, -37 rushing).

E/E's offense generated 479 total yards.

The Flying Dutchmen improve to 9-0 and host Hills-Beaver Creek on Saturday at 3 p.m.

H-BC 66, RCW 0

HILLS -- The third-seeded Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots pounded out 411 yards on the ground and shut out the Renville County West Jaguars in the first round of the Section 3, 9-man playoffs Tuesday night.

H-BC (8-1) limited RCW to 89 yards of total offense (53 rushing, 36 passing).

Dalton Bass led the Patriots with three rushing touchdowns on 12 carries for 140 yards and also added a 27-yard punt-return touchdown.

Tate Bork gained 133 rushing yards on 10 carries with two of the runs going for scores while Taylor Leuthold (seven carries for 44 yards) and Caleb Vis (five carries for 65 yards) each added a rushing touchdown for H-BC.

Jordan Larson completed a 33-yard touchdown pass to Seth Nuffer in the win.

Leuthold led the Patriots' defense with nine tackles while Jeff Sandbulte recorded five tackles and a quarterback sack, which resulted in a safety.

Nathan Taubert, Zach Wagenaar and Taylor Reese each posted a sack while Larson, Brady Vaughn, AJ Hoogeveen and Dylan Gehrke all intercepted a pass.

H-BC looks to avenge its lone loss of the season as the Patriots travel to Edgerton Saturday to play Edgerton/Ellsworth at 3 p.m.
