Board sets February referendum date

PREP GYMNASTICS: Worthington tops St. James for fifth gymnastics victory

WORTHINGTON -- With another season-high point total, Worthington won a non-conference gymnastics meet from St. James 133.075-102.300 on Tuesday at the Old Armory.

The Trojans (5-2 overall) claimed the top four all-around spots with Paige Kinley (35.500, first), Anna Koepsell (32.925, second), Maria Contreras (31.925, third) and Whitney Jenson (31.875, fourth) leading the way.

Kinley swept all four events, scoring a 91.50 in the vault, an 8.300 in the uneven bars, a 9.175 on the balance beam and an 8.875 during the floor exercise.

"We had very good bar rountines and very consistent vaults," Worthington head coach Joni Reitmeier said. "We're starting to puts those things together and we're being more consistent."

The Trojans took three of four spots in the vault competition with Kinley (9.150, first), Contreras (8.675, second) and Jenson (8.500, fourth) competing.

Worthington had four athletes provide top scores in the uneven bars with Kinley (8.300, first), Contreras (7.675, third), Koepsell (7.425, fourth) and Jenson (7.425, fourth) excelling.

The Trojans swept the balance beam and the floor excercise events.

Kinley (9.175), Koepsell (8.775), Liz Hayenga (7.725) and Jensen (7.300) were Worthington's competitors on the balance beam.

On the floor, Kinley (8.875), Jensen (8.650), Contreras (8.500), Hayenga (8.500) and Koepsell (8.350) led the Trojans.

Worthington was victorius in the junior varsity meet 115.100-67.650.

LUVERNE -- Samantha Pierce was third in the all-around as Luverne won a Southwest Conference meet from Redwood Valley on Tuesday.
