PREP SOFTBALL: Rebels win pair against Falcons

The Murray County Central girls' softball team swept Red Rock Central 6-3 and 12-10 in a doubleheader Tuesday.

In Game 1, MCC scored three runs in the fifth to break a tie and claim the win. Kristi Bose threw a complete game with three strike outs to get credit for the win for the Rebels. Bose was also 1-for-3 at the plate with a double, while Sophie Nepp was 1 of 4.

Taylor Willhite took the loss for RRC. Angela Hannemann went 3-for-4 for the Falcons at the plate.

In Game 2, MCC used an eight-run second inning to outlast RRC in a 12-10 win.

Bose pitched four and one-third innings to get credit for the victory, while Willhite threw a complete game for the loss.

Katie Larsen was 4 of 5 with a triple for RRC, while Hannemann went 3-for-3 with a double.

Jade Giese was 2 of 3 for MCC, while Kenda Blomgren went 2-for-4.

JCC 9-10, Marshall 0-3

JACKSON -- Brooke Klontz shut out Southwest Conference rival Marshall 9-0 on a one-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday.

Brittany Woodke, Marita Rasche, Jenna Stade, Blaney Markman and Jordian Tirevold all had two hits for the winners. Rasche homered.

In the second game, Jasmine Erickson had three hits and teammates Klontz and Rasche homered as JCC outplayed Marshall 10-3.

Moira Carlson went the distance on a five-hitter to pick up the pitching victory.

Callie Graff was the losing pitcher. The Tigers' Ashley Stattelman had two of Marshall's five hits.

Windom splits pair of games

WINDOM -- The Windom Area Eagles split a pair of games against Red Rock Central and Springfield Monday.

The Eagles defeated the Falcons 15-4 in five innings. Hannah Redmond started the game for Windom Area and pitched three innings. She had five strikeouts and walked one batter. Maghan Vesey took over in the fourth and had four strikeouts in two innings of work.

Jasmine Carlson went 4-for-4 at the plate for the Eagles with three RBIs, while Morgan Hockel was also perfect at the plate (3 of 3) with an RBI. Alyssa Fast (3-for-4) and Sutton Dewanz (2-for-4) both drove in three runs apiece.

In the second game against Springfield, the Eagles lost 4-1 in seven innings. Vessey pitched a complete game with one strikeout and three walks. Only two of the runs allowed by Vessey were earned.

Dewanz was 2 of 3 at the plate in the second game, while Sami Peterson scored the Eagles only run on a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh.
