Prep Baseball: Jackson County Central splits doubleheader with Pipestone Area
JACKSON -- Jackson County Central scored five runs in the second inning of the second game of a Southwest Conference baseball doubleheader Monday, earning a split with visiting Pipestone Area.
Pipestone Area won the first game, 5-4. JCC captured the second, 6-3.
Justin Rops went the distance for the victorious Arrows in the opener, allowing five Huskies hits. Zach Copley started for JCC and went the first five, getting tagged with the loss.
Alex Ossefoort had two hits for the Arrows. Copley belted a two-run home run for Jackson County Central and teammates Josh Thaemlitz and Taylor Christopher both batted in a run.
In the second game, Christopher pitched the full seven innings for JCC and gave up six hits with four walks and four strikeouts. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Teammate Peter Nasby was 3-for-3 with two RBI and the Huskies' Kyle Luhmann drove in two runs.
Jaymes Zollner was 2-for-3 with a double for Pipestone Area.
JCC is 8-10 overall and 4-8 in conference play.
